Would You Like to Know How We Work?
During your first consultation, we will aim to answer the four questions that almost every patient asks. We understand that not everyone wants the same amount of information, so we will give each question as much attention as you need.
We provide evidence-based treatments. This means we use the treatments that achieve the best outcomes with the lowest use of resources (time, cost, materials, etc.), making them cost-effective. We combine this with our clinical experience while always taking your values and preferences into account.
We believe it is non-negotiable that our practice is based on safe and effective treatment, allowing you to make informed and voluntary decisions, never imposed ones. For this reason, our relationship is based on collaboration, with the therapist acting as a guide rather than as an authority figure. This is only possible if we listen to you and respect you as a person. If you have a condition that falls within our area of expertise and our approach feels right for you: shall we get started?
The Questions We Want to Answer
What is happening to me?
This is the equivalent of a diagnosis—that is, identifying the main condition or problem. We determine what is happening in your body from a biological perspective: which tissues are affected, what is not functioning properly, why it has happened, and how it is affecting your daily life.
How long will this last?
This refers to your prognosis: how long the condition is expected to last, whether you are likely to recover completely or have any lasting effects, and when you can expect to return to your normal activities, whether that is work, leisure or daily tasks.
What can you do for yourself?
We explain the strategies you can use to help resolve the problem, reduce its impact or manage it more effectively. We will discuss what will help your recovery, what may slow it down, and how you can manage the condition yourself. This is an essential part of treatment and, in some cases, the most important one.
What can I do as your physiotherapist?
This refers to the treatment provided during your appointments, including the techniques and procedures we will use. It includes manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and all the information and guidance we provide throughout your treatment.
identity of our clinical practice
INFORMATION
We want you to make informed decisions about your treatment. If you decide to follow a treatment programme, we want you to understand it beforehand, including its expected benefits, effects and any requirements such as time commitment or necessary equipment.
SAFETY
Pain or other symptoms can sometimes hide a more serious condition. If we suspect this, we will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional before starting treatment. At the same time, all the treatment techniques we use are designed to be safe and free from harmful side effects.
RESPECT
Your preferences and values always come first. We will never carry out a treatment that you do not wish to receive. You should always feel free to choose the treatment that best suits your needs. We are not here to persuade you or sell you anything—we simply want the same thing you do: your recovery.
LISTENING
Your story matters. During your first appointment, we will ask many questions because we want to understand both you and your condition—they are inseparable. We want to know which activities you want to return to and what is, or is not, most important to you.
EXCELLENCE
We have spent years continually updating our knowledge and improving the treatments we provide because you deserve the highest standard of care using the best evidence currently available.
COLLABORATION
Problems are best solved when both patient and therapist work together, each fulfilling their own role.
GOALS
Treatment goals are agreed upon from the very first appointment, once we have assessed your condition and explained the effectiveness and available treatment options. To avoid frustration, we align recovery expectations with what treatment can realistically achieve.
SUPPORT
Our role as therapists is to guide, advise and, of course, provide the agreed treatment. However, our ultimate goal is to help you take your own path towards recovery. We know that patients who actively participate in their rehabilitation recover sooner, recover better, and are more capable of managing future relapses independently.
